Is Chalke Valley safe for solo glampers?

Yes. The Coward family live on the farm and are always nearby. The site is secluded but not remote, with a village pub within walking distance.

Do I need to book the whole tent as a solo traveller?

Yes, pricing is per tent per night. Bell tents start from £70 per night and safari tents from £105. There is no extra charge for unused beds.

We have been increasingly welcoming solo visitors to Chalke Valley. Some come to reconnect with nature, enjoy a mindful escape, or simply spend a couple of days reading a book in the beauty of the English countryside. Our peaceful site is a perfect choice for a solo glamping trip.

In the last couple of years, we've welcomed many people to Chalke Valley who are looking for a solo break. Some have stayed with us for a week, while others have been passing through and stayed for just a night. We are sometimes asked what kind of guests come to Chalke Valley, and the truth is that we welcome all sorts. We see families, including multiple generations, couples, friends, and more recently, a growing number of solo travellers.

Why Chalke Valley works for solo travel

Sometimes you just need to get away – properly away, and this part of Wiltshire is spot on for that. Chalke Valley's quiet, open landscape makes it easy to switch off. You wake up to birdsong, not traffic. The air's fresh, the views are stunning, and there's space to simply enjoy your surroundings. If you're a keen walker, then there are some excellent routes directly from the site – no need to get in the car.

If you're visiting us on your own, it's the kind of place where you don't feel out of place. The Coward family live on the farm, so you are never truly alone. You can spend the day walking or doing absolutely nothing, and no one's expecting anything from you. There's a firepit for the evenings, a warm tent to crawl into, and if you fancy a bit of company, the nearest pub (Queen's Head) isn't far away. It's peaceful without being remote, and simple in the best kind of way. Just you, a bit of nature, and no pressure.
